Scott Thorton was on hand at a recent Chicago Great Western operating session on Jason Klocke’s outstanding railroad, and has shared video of the layout on his Youtube channel! The overall artistic feel of the railroad is second to none, and captures this granger road in MN and IA.
This has got to be the Best modeling I’ve ever seen. And of all Railroads, it was my favorite, The Chicago Great Western. If only we could all be made to scale and walk the line or hire on to ride in that prized fleet, we could all die happy. The video really gave me another taste of those magic moments in the 1960’s I so enjoyed as a kid, seeing the real thing. Thanks for the ride !! Well Done !!!
Great layout. I’m particularly interested because my grandpa was an engineer for the CGW. He lived in Eagle Grove Iowa and ran steam fro there up into Minnesota.
I have admired Jason Klockes’ Model railroad for a number of years. His use of modern scenery materials is unrivaled among the model railroads I have seen. His application of
texture, color and composition is well balanced creating a high degree of realism. His model railroad helps us all appreciate and experience the CGW. Thank you Jason
